Look What’s New At My House

Fusible Fleece.

I didn’t immediately run out to buy it after reading that quite a few quilters were using it to sturdy up their handbags. I resisted and continued using regular batting and thin interfacing. But curiosity got the better of me. So, when JoAnn’s mailed me a 50% off coupon, I knew what I would use it for. I got five yards. 7.99 a yard regular price. I haven’t used it yet to see if I like it but plan to in the next few days.

Zippers, Zippers.

75 of them. Got them in the mail a few days ago. Purchased from an eBay seller. Are you seeing lots of little zippered bags? Me, too!! I only bought 7″ and 8″. If these work out, then that seller will have me as a regular customer.

Isn’t this the cutest little mug?

Well, huge actually.. but I call everything “cute and little.” 😀 It is humongous and is similar to the black one I bought last year. Except for the size of the white dots. Now I have two.

Didn’t see any other colors. Maybe next year I will find one in a different color. It was half off. Don’t you just love JoAnn’s half off sales!!

Update on my pillowcases for charity

I am still making them. Nine more finished. I am WAYYYY ahead of myself.

I am committed to making one pillowcase a day, Monday through Friday. 5 a week. 20 a month. Schedule-wise, I am into next week. Yay on ME!!

And I am doing a bit of sewing for myself, too. I have a new handbag and matching zippered clutch almost finished. Just need to stitch up the bottom of the lining and decide if I want top stitching. Hopefully will be able to show you tomorrow.

Here’s a question for you quilters out there.

Have you used fusible fleece and do you like it? Any tips? Is it true after ironing it on you have to let it cool for 30 minutes before handling? I read that somewhere. Can’t remember where.

Well, that does it for me. Thanks in advance for your help.

What crafting are you doing?

5 Reasons Why I Love My Salvation Army Thrift Store

1. 25% off on Wednesday. Senior Citizen’s Discount Day.

2. My local SA Thrift Store is only a few miles away, very clean, items are clearly marked with stickers or tags. The clerks are very helpful. They go out of their way to help little old me.

3. The aisles are large enough for carts going in opposite directions.

4. The linens and materials have a freshly washed smell.

5. And I find great buys like these…..

$1.99

Yay!! I am happier than a pig in slop!!

I already found a use for the wire kettle. For displaying my new Gutermann thread I bought for half off at JoAnn’s. It was my only splurge for February.

Do you shop in thrift stores?

Only $10, OMG!!

Can you say Oh My Gosh with me?

OMG!!

This was only $10 at one of the craft stores I frequent. I guess the person who made them wanted to get rid of them. This was the last one. It is well made.

I was thinking about painting it. Was. But with all the colorful fabrics I use, I don’t want to box myself in or limit what I can do with it. Maybe paint it white. But probably I will leave it as is.

I love it!! And now I have to make larger doll pillows. The little Ball and Chain ones are way too small for it.

And as usual I made my weekly Wednesday stop at the Salvation Army Thrift Shop yesterday. Senior Day. 25% off. I circled the place. I am getting faster with my browsing. I know what is new, what was there the last time. I headed to the mug section. Found two I liked. Headed to the doll section. Found lots I liked. But only bought three and a stuffed monkey. How cute are these!! All between 1.99 and 3.99.

No way could I just walk away from them. They needed a home. But don’t tell them they won’t be played with and will just be props for my photo taking sessions. 😀

Wednesday Is New STUFF Day!!

Want to see all the new stuff I got recently?

OK. Let’s go!!

First…..

Wrought iron quilt hanger with a heart. Found this on eBay.

It fits my Dresden Plate mini quilt perfectly with a couple inches to spare. Now I have to either sew on hanging tabs in the back or make a hanging sleeve.

Books. I really loved the Jesse Stone movie series with Tom Selleck that I bought a couple weeks ago. Dark but mesmerizing. I love the characters.

I so wanted to know what happened to Jesse after the last movie, No Remorse, that I bought all the books. I received these yesterday. Two more to come. I will start with the first book, Night Passage, and work my way through them all.

Thread.

I recently switched to all cotton for sewing my quilt tops. Didn’t like it at first. Seemed to curl up around the sewing machine needle when I pulled on it. Figured out it was just the first few inches doing it probably from being wound so tightly around the spool top. I am trying some new threads too. Variegated and transparent. Will let you know how I like them.

Baskets.

Too cheap to pass up. From JoAnn’s. $8 for the larger one. $5 each for the smaller ones. I am going to use them for fabric scraps. I can easily stack them if space becomes an issue.

Quilting supplies.

Got my giant clips, my soapstone, my gloves, more rulers. And about 800 bent quilting pins. Do I have enough!!

Then got all of this for $12 from my brother-in-law’s Resale Shop.

A huge picnic basket, 3 clocks THAT WORK, 3 curtain rods that I hope to use to hang my quilts. What a deal. Yay!!

And last… I saved the best for last.

FABRIC. OMG!! Please!! Someone stop me!! Please send the Popo. The Fabric Police. I need help. 😀

I got Fat Quarters, batik charms, Moda solids, novelty charms, flowers, butterflies, polka dots, circles and more dots, flannel. Even BABY themed fabric.

This is the fabric I told you about. I am using it for the sashing and the back of my t-shirt quilt. Cute huh? Kind of kiddie but I like it.

Well… That does it for my Shopping Sprees. I think I have done my part in getting the economy moving.

What have you purchased lately? Do tell.
