I love how it came out. Need to go back to JoAnn’s for more Spaceship fabric. Since I wasn’t sure what I would use it for, I only got one yard. I hope they still have it. I need at least 2 more yards. I can use the 50% off coupon that is burning a hole in my hand.

These pillowcases are addicting. So much fun to mix up fabrics. To me, the hardest part is… sewing all the little strips together to create the band. Since I am using half scraps and half new fabric, it takes a little longer getting the strips ready. Iron, trim. Some need extra length added. And to keep it interesting, I cut different widths.

And then after sandwiching everything…. my favorite part is the quilting. I LOVE to stipple. I didn’t like it at first. Felt weird with the presser foot NOT touching the fabric. But after a bit of practice, I am loving the freeness of it. And it is true. I had heard it is best to go fast. IT IS!! I fly!! Just put on my quilting gloves, grip the fabric on both sides and MOVE as fast as I can. Did I tell you that is my fav part? 😀

The pillowcase “sort of” matches the playmat I showed you yesterday. I only had a few pieces of the Play School novelty fabric from my Scrap Bin Diving. From the lot I bought on eBay. (I am slowly making my way through all of it. So many great scrap pieces. Going to be sad when I get to the end of it.)

Anyhoo… I ended up using a different novelty fabric with a blue background. The same color as the school pieces. If you don’t look too closely, you will think it is all the same fabric. (Yes, I know, I’m a genius!! :D)

Today I am taking a break from sewing. Haven’t sewed a thing all day. Slept in. Up now and headed out.

Can you guess where I am going?

Salvation Army Thrift Shop. Today is Senior Discount Day. Hopefully I can find something I can use with my quilting. Wish me luck.

    Adorable, Donna!!! 🙂
Love the primary color scheme, and those little dishes are the “frosting” for your photos.

Fingers crossed you find some real treasures, today!

  4. Hi Donna

Well, I don’t quilt yet, but I’m a few steps closer. I went to one of my favorite thrift stores today and bought two quilters Rules. One was a Mini Square and one was a mini triangle. Now, I’ll have to do some research on Quilter’s secrets.
Did you ever find out the answer you were seeking about the pins?
    Happy sewing !

Hi everyone. I didn’t find the little chest I wanted. It was gone. I knew I should have grabbed it when I saw it. So cute and would have been perfect to store about 100 fat quarters. 😦

But good news!! I found lots of stuff I can use. Photos coming up.

Tanya, I HATE using the bent quilting pins. I know I will have to use them for larger quilting projects but for the smaller ones, I am just using my regular quilting pins. They don’t make large holes. I guess I am obsessing for no reason though. I assume the first washing will tighten the holes. You should try it. You will like it!!

Hey Crystal, I bought those little dishes somewhere YEARS ago. I forgot I even had them. Yep, they make great props.

Thanks so much Lillian and Carol. Yes, I am having a ball creating these sets. Have more fabric combos lined up.
