A New Way To Wear A Scarf

This post is all about scarves.

I was saving it for later in the month but decided to go ahead and post it now since I saw over at the blog, Small Notebook, a discussion on adding scarves to your wardrobe.

Over the years, I have had a love affair with scarves. I love, love, love them. At one point during my working career, I had so many I bought special hangers to keep them organized in my closet. Each hanger holds 33 scarves.

I bet I had over 60 scarves. I weeded them down after retiring. Tossed a few with stains, sold a few, gave away a few. But I still have lots left. 35 of them.

Usually I wore them every day with a suit. Tied around the neck. Tucked under my suit collar. Tossed over my shoulder or just hanging down the front. I felt naked without a scarf.

Since I rarely wear suits now (think weddings, funerals), I decided to experiment with them to come up with different ways to wear them.

The idea for this came to me one day I was playing around with my macrame cord. And before I knew it…

EZ Scarf Mate was born. I don’t have a pattern for it made up yet but plan to make it available in my Etsy Shop soon.

The longer scarves with the points on the tips work best. But shorter ones will work too.

How cool is this!!

I love this idea. I’ll either have to learn macrame, or more likely buy your tutorial, and translate it to beads. 😉

I love this! I only have a few scarves, and most are pretty substantial (wouldn’t work for this) but I have a few that would. What a great idea!

    Thanks, KipperCat. Thanks, Debra.

I have 3 of them made up. Need to make another one to document my steps.

    And I found 5 more scarves. 😀

Where did you get the hangers? Those would be perfect for keeping necklaces hanging, yet separate.

      Hi DeeDee.

I have had them for YEARS and don’t remember where I got them. I did a Google search but don’t see any like mine. I did see a bunch for 10 scarves. Wood and also plastic.

I bet eBay may have them like mine.

Oh those are so cute!! the green and red one is perfect for Christmas season and in fact would make a neat wreath if you made it big enough and used Christmas print material.

    Hi Donna

That is a marveleous idea. I need one in black one in white and of course brown. (tan) I too have a lot of scraves.

Hi Betty, yes I can make them up for you. I have to make one for my pattern tutorial so I will make one in a color you want. Will let you know when I am finished. Thanks much!!

    VERY cute idea, Donna! 😀
I, too, was about to ask if you had a source for the hangers. My daughter was looking for one a couple of years ago. They used to be in those novelty catalogs – but seem to have disappeared. My girls and I share your love for scarves!

Crystal, thanks!! I had no idea the type I have would be so hard to find now. A couple of people asked where I got them. I have searched the net but only see those with 10 holes in plastic or wood. I even checked eBay. Somebody somewhere must still have them.

Guess I had better guard mine. 😀

Donna, get hubby to work making them… and offer them for sale. 😀

Love your scarf idea. Any more ideas? I love scarves too. 🙂

      Thank you, Quilty.

Regarding hubby… He is such a slacker!! LOL!! He has offered to help me with my crafts. Though I think he was joking. He is all thumbs.

One day soon I plan to get the ones already made listed at Etsy. And then I have to make up a few for my pattern tutorial.
