A Touch of Lace & Ribbon

It’s amazing the amount of supplies I have accumulated over the years. Want lace in just about every color in the rainbow? Check!! Want ribbon in different colors? What width do you want? Got it!! I have so much stuff the only way to get rid of it will be to sell it. No way will I ever use it all up. But I need to try.

So…. after making three Lil Miss purses in brown, I decided to jazz one of them up. Lace and ribbon embellishments to the rescue.

The sewing machine part was the easiest. I sewed brown grosgrain ribbon to the lace. The next part was the hardest. Hand sewing. I pinned the lace with the ruffles down. Uh, ok, so-so. I tried it with ruffles up and liked it better that way.

At first I planned to make tiny stitches using brown thread and sew in the center of the ribbon. BUT… I changed my mind and ended up making tiny stitches at the top AND bottom near the white stitching. Took forever!! I was watching CSI: Miami reruns and I bet I listened to Horatio and Team process 4 or 5 crime scenes.
