When Crochet Month Gets Here…

I will be ready…

But I won’t have a clue what to do or how to do it. So I sure hope someone will feel sorry for me, stumbling around, playing with sticks and offer some help. :D

I got the how-to books and hooks for 50% off!! Woohoo!! At JoAnn’s, the one that is NOT closing. It is about 8 miles from me, HUGE and even has an elevator. It has 10 times the amount of merchandise as my neighborhood store. I hate to see “my” store close but I won’t mind driving the extra 7 miles to get great stuff at great prices.

Victorian Button Necklace That Is Also A Belt

Yep, you read that right.

I made this necklace with the thought that it could also be worn as a belt. I came up with the idea about a month ago and decided to go ahead and try it. I already had the victorian buttons from last year when I was making macrame jewelry boxes. I purchased them from JoAnn’s.

The clasp I found at a local craft store in a bin marked Frogs. ??? It doesn’t look like a frog but it works perfectly for what I wanted it to do and that is to put on and take off easily.

The necklace base was made from 3 1/2mm braided macrame cord. It took 14 yards. I attached the buttons, there are 56 of them, onto the macrame knots with 9mm gold tone jump rings. There are angels, hearts, roses, flowers, baskets, plus more.

For years this figure 8 gold colored “thingy” had been mixed in with my belt buckles. I had been asking myself, “where did this come from and what will I use it for?” Well, now one question has been answered.

I used only square knots to make the necklace/belt. A square knot sinnet for 36″. It measures 38″ with the clasp.

I had fun making it. I used up all of my victorian novelty buttons. I am happy about that.
