Macrame Summertime Purses in Pink & White

I have been busy!! I made two more macrame purses. A large white one and a hot pink one for a little girl.

The fringe on the pink one takes me back. “Back In The Day” as my hubby likes to say. It has a drawstring closing. I found the pattern in one of my macrame books from years ago and decided to make it. I think it is cute.

The white one is like the peach one. I jazzed it up with some of my black and white art glass handcrafted jewelry.

More Bracelets Using Right Angle Weave (RAW)

Black Ruffles: I used 6mm round Swarovski crystals, one 16mm Cosmic cut jet black crystal for the closure and 11/0 seed beads for embellishment. I added 2 rows of tiny beads under the crystals to give it a ruffled look.

Fire and Ice: I used 6mm round Swarovski crystals in olive, indian red, silk and dark topaz.

Shades of Green: This one, I almost didn’t finished. Hubby’s first reaction was YUCK!! That usually tells me he does not fancy one of my creations. LOL!!

He said it was too drab and that I should have used a different color for the embellishment. Something like gold. As in metal gold. I finished it anyway since I wanted to try out a different way of closing off a bracelet. I had one little “button type” clasp I was dying to try out. It works like a punch in snap and adds very little length. Even though the color combination isn’t all that pleasing, it is a success to me.

And lastly, I started this one but ran out of steam, wanted to move on to something different. I will swing back around to finish it in a few days. It should be pretty. I am going to use a black crystal donut ring as the toggle. Not sure if I will add embellishments. I may leave it plain.

So… for now…giving RAW a rest!! :D

I learned the right angle weave technique in class at toocutebeads.

Here Comes the Bride…in Buttons and Pearls

That is what comes to mind when I look at this. I made this bracelet from buttons and pearls.

It really looks pretty on but I can’t think of anywhere to wear it except paired with a wedding dress.  So, not sure what I will do with it. I may take it apart and make a necklace and earring set as suggested by one of my readers.

I had an idea on what I wanted to make but wasn’t sure if the smaller buttons would cooperate. I tried all of them with the pearls. Trying to see which worked best, staying put on the wire and not twisting. The daisies were the only ones to do what I wanted.

Then I took it all apart and restrung with one seed bead before and after each pearl. Trying to fill in the empty wire spaces. The additional beads changed the look. It no longer remained flat. It kind of bunched together. :(

I assembled the bracelet in this order:

1. To attach the beaded loop end to the larger button, I used two lengths of 34″ Beadalon XS wire. I strung both wires through a string of 11/0 cream colored seed beads. Found the center of both wires and created a seed bead loop large enough to go around the larger button with ease. (Now you have 4 wires)

2. Using all 4 wires, I strung a 4mm clear crystal bicone, looped through the button back of one daisy button, added another 4mm clear crystal bicone. I wanted this area to stay in place and not move. This did the trick.

3. Next I added a grouping of pearls and seed beads. Dividing the 4 wires into 3 groups. Left wire, center with 2 wires, and right wire. Add one seed bead, one pearl, one seed bead, one pearl, one seed bead to each wire “group”.

4. Add one large button through all 4 wires.

5. Then repeat adding pearls/seed beads, daisy, pearls/seed beads, large button, pearls/seed beads, daisy, pearls/seed beads, large button, pearls/seed beads, daisy, pearls/seed beads and the last large button.

6. To end bracelet, I added a crimp, strung all 4 wires through the last large button. Separated the 4 wires into 2 groups of 2 wires. Strung 8 seed beads on the left and the same on the right. Came back through the crimp with all wires. Crimped and cut.

I am going to leave it like this until something better pops into my head.
