Macrame Terms

Working Cords: All cords used in the design or section of the design–both those doing the actual tying and those around which the knots are tied.

Tying Cords: Cords with which the knots are tied. Sometimes called knotting cords.

Filler Cords: Cords around which the knots are tied.

Row: A line of knots side by side, each tied with different working cords.

Sinnet: A strip of knots, each below the other, tied with the same tying cords.

  3. Hi, I was considered the “macrame queen” back in 1970 and here it is forty years later and I cannot even remember how to macrame! Need some information or books on ‘how to’. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
